Connecting With Your Audience BEFORE You Speak!

You learned previously that people determine during the first 7 and 30 secs of your presentation  whether or not they like you or whether you are worth listening to.  Well…. did you also know that how you are with your audience before you speak also plays a huge role in preparing your audience to engage with your message?

The most sought after speakers arrive early to a speaking appointment in order to take time to personally interact and greet the  members of the audience that day. This demonstrates a well known principle in establishing trust: “familiarity helps breed confidence.” By interacting with individuals personally, even briefly, you help to break down any awkwardness  of coming into a new group and makes the audience more open to trust you.

How you conduct yourself “offstage” is just as important as how you conduct yourself  “onstage!” Who you are “off camera” needs to be consistent with who you are “on camera” if you want your audience to even begin to like and  trust you.

See you next week!
