Uncovering Your Unique Message
Do you believe that you are wired in a unique way? In fact, your ability to embrace that uniqueness will significantly affect your confidence as a speaker. This uniqueness is like your personal brand. Last week you learned about the importance of developing a signature message . One way you can identify this unique message is asking yourself these 3 questions:
1) If you had an opportunity to speak to a group on whatever you wanted, what is the first topic you would choose?
2) How would you want that audience to think, feel and act after hearing your message?
3) What transformation would you like your audience members to walk away with?
After answering these questions create a sentence no longer than 10 words that captures the essence of what you want to leave with the audience from that core message. This sentence is called a foundational phrase (FP) and will serve as the plumbline to determine what points, stories and information to include as you start to add structure to your message. Anything that doesn’t align to your FP doesn’t get included in that message.
